Alexander disease


dysmyelinating disease
  • rare, sporadic
  • usually presents in 1st year
  • megalencephaly: gradual enlargement of head
  • retardation, convulsion, spasticity

CT findings:
  • decreased density of white matter
  • frontal lobe predominance
  • +/- dilated lateral ventricles

Dx: brain bx
