epicardial fat sign


  • two lucent lines on lateral CXR anterior to heart
    • subepicardial fat around LAD
    • anterior mediastinal fat

  • lines seen in 40% of all lateral CXRs

  • if separation > 2 mm ==> consider pericardial effusion or thickening
