scaphoid (navicular) fracture


  • rule of 70's
    • 70% of wrist fractures
    • 70% fracture at waist
    • 70% unite (5% --> AVN)

  • most commonly fractured bone in wrist
    • only bone which bridges prox + distal carpal rows

  • AVN occurs in PROXIMAL fragment: 1st sign is increased density

associated with
  • perilunate fx-dislocation
  • triquetral fx
