subclavian steal syndrome

• flow reversal in ipsilateral vertebral artery
• decreased cerebral circulation

• 2.5% of extracranial arterial occlusions
• 40-60y
• M:F 3:1

• congenital
  interruption of arch, hypoplasia of rt aortic arch with hypoplasia of anomalous lt SA
• ASD (#1)
• dissection

symptoms:

• vertebrobasilar (HA/N/V/vertigo)
• brachial (arm pain, paresthesias)

Rx: surgery, PTA
