medullary cystic kidney disease

• mode of inheritance uncertain
• usually affects young adults (early 20s)
• associated with red or blond hair (!!)

• causes salt wasting, polyuria, azotemia
• affects both kidneys
• progressive ==> pts need dialysis or transplant
