• dilatation & cyst formation of collecting tubules in renal pyramids
• Ca2+ ==> medullary nephrocalcinosis

• not hereditary; males (2:1)
• usually bilateral

• renal tubular acidosis (RTA)
• Caroli disease
• parathyroid adenoma
• hypertrophic pyloric stenosis
• Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
• ipsilateral hemihypertrophy
