slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE)

boys > girls
age 10 - 15 yrs
blacks > whites (unlike CHD + Legg-Perthes disease)
related to height, weight, athletic activity
if BILATERAL ==> renal osteodystrophy
femoral epiphysis slips POSTERIORLY and MEDIALLY
use frog-leg + lateral projections
complications:
- AVN
- acute cartilage necrosis (chondrolysis)
- varus deformity
