gastric varices

• usually a/w esophageal varices (d/t portal HTN)

• if WITHOUT esophageal varices
  ==> consider splenic vein thrombosis due to:
  • pancreatitis / panc Ca
  • increased clotting tendency (polycythemia, etc.)

DDx: thick gastric folds
