A bluish cast to the skin resulting from increased deoxyhemoglobin in the blood.

Increased pulmonary blood flow and cyanosis = admixture lesions
- TGV (transposition) -- most common cause on 1st day of life
- TAPVR (total anomolous pulmonary venous return)
- truncus arteriosis
- tricuspid atresia with TGV (25% of TA cases)
- single ventricle
- common atrium
- hypoplastic left heart
- DORV (double outlet right ventricle)
Decreased pulmonary blood flow and cyanosis- right to left shunts
- TOF (tetralogy of Fallot) -- most common overall
- Ebstein's anomaly
- tricuspid atresia without TGV (75% of TA cases)
- pulmonic valvular atresia
