acute lower GI hemorrhage

• Typical presentation: Sudden onset of brisk rectal bleeding without blood in gastric aspirate

• diverticulosis
• angiodysplasia
• ischemic colitis
• inflammatory bowel disease (rarely)
• polyps ------ \ usually present
• carcinoma --- / as chronic bleed
• hemorrhoids (rule out by physical exam)
