weakened annulus fibrosus and posterior longitudinal ligament
- age: >40 y.o (common finding)
- location: lumbar, cervical
findings:
- concave anterior margin of thecal sac
- nucleus pulposa hypointense on T1 & hyperintense on T2
(water loss through degeneration)
