Monteggia fracture
angulated fracture at the junction of the proximal and middle
third of ulna accompained by ANTERIOR dislocation of the radial
head
etiology:
- transmission of force thorugh the hand and forearm with the
elbow partially flexed
- interosseous ligament "drags" the
radius with the distal two-thirds of the ulna
MUGR mnemonic
- Monteggia with ulna (proximal)
- Galeazzi with radius (distal)
